THE CANDY FACTORY LOFTS

993 Queen Street West

Dating back to the 1930s, 993 Queen St. West was once the home of Ce De Candy Company, makers of Halloween favourites Rockets and Fizzers. Today it is one of Toronto’s most popular and iconic loft buildings.

Six brick storeys, post and beam, high ceiling, open concept, 121 contemporary hard lofts., completed in 1999. Suites are very large and quite spectacular, with 12-14 ft ceilings, sand blasted exposed brick, plank hardwood floors, solid wood beams and columns, kitchen islands, high quality appliances, gas fireplaces.

I’ve represented a couple of purchases in this building. The location is ideal for downtown living or for renting out. The old timber and brick character and spacious volume of the suites is admittedly intoxicating to me. The building has managed to keep its maintenance fees unusually low, probably because its amenities are pretty minimal. But it does have a guest suite which my investor / landlord client can enjoy on her visits in town.
