The fact that it was yet another slim pickings week for listings in Toronto did not affect the bumper crop of excellent and unique properties that came to market. Here are my picks of the week:
1. 62 Austin Terrace: On the corner of Bathurst north of Davenport. You've likely driven by this Art Deco brick house on the hill and appreciated its unique presence in the city. Inside, it is an excellent investment property with three above grade apartments in the much desired Casa Loma neighbourhood. If you aren't afraid of a maintenance project, it is a brilliant way to enter a more more expensive catchment with $500,000 of your mortgage paid off by rental.
2. 392 Markham St: Looking for a grand Victorian masterpiece surrounded by other grand Victorians? This is it. Case closed. A forever home.
3. 244 Cottingham St: One of those rare properties that allows for a complete guilt-free gut (no Victorian details that you would hate to rip out) without being structurally impaired. It is also a friendly 'clean it yourself' size, a rarity in the highly coveted Rathnelly neighbourhood.
4. 533 Beresford Ave Rear: A warehouse listing in this town is always a particularly exciting listing. A warehouse that is pocketed on uncontaminated land in a residential neighbourhood in the west end is especially fantastic.
